About The Position

HireNow Staffing is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in Omaha to hire a seasoned Machinist for a highly skilled 1st shift position. This role is built for a true hands-on machinist—someone who can independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot both manual and CNC equipment in a fast-paced job shop environment. The ideal candidate brings precision, pride in craftsmanship, and the ability to produce parts that meet tight tolerances without heavy oversight. Only candidates who meet the required technical qualifications will be considered for interview. In this role, the Machinist will support daily production and custom fabrication work, including: Ensure customer and manufacturing requirements are met through quality-driven execution

Requirements

  • Associates degree, technical certification, or completed apprenticeship in Machining, Tool & Die, or related trade
  • 3–5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on expertise with both: Manual machining CNC machining
  • Proven experience working with mills and lathes (required)
  • Ability to machine parts independently from print specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: Tolerances, fits, and surface finishes Precision measurement and quality inspection
  • Ability to calculate and apply speeds, feeds, and tooling geometry
  • Experience performing threading work, including single-point threading (ID, OD, taper pipe threads)
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and clear communication skills

  • 4+ years of job shop machining experience
  • Experience sharpening drills and cutting tools
  • Background supporting custom setups, short-run production, and varied customer work
  • A strong quality-first mindset in a precision manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, customer specifications, and sample parts to determine machining requirements
  • Measure, mark, and lay out materials for milling, turning, drilling, and threading operations
  • Set up and operate a variety of machines, including: Manual and CNC mills Manual and CNC lathes Drill presses and specialty shop equipment
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, attachments, and machining methods for each job
  • Calculate and apply speeds, feeds, chip loads, and cutting parameters accurately
  • Monitor machining performance and adjust controls to maintain part quality and tolerance
  • Perform trial cuts and verification runs to confirm correct machine setup
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools to ensure conformance
  • Assemble machined components and verify alignment, finish, and dimensional accuracy
  • Build and utilize custom fixtures for drilling, milling, and turning needs
  • Communicate machining challenges or design issues with engineering, production, and internal stakeholders
