About The Position

The Machinist is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining new and replacement parts, tooling, jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, and dies used in shaping and forming materials. This role involves diversified and complex machining work requiring close tolerances, multi-dimensional relationships, and precise contour and finish specifications. The Machinist plays a critical role in supporting production efficiency, quality, and tooling reliability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a machining role with advanced skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of operating principles of all assigned equipment
  • Requires basic technical knowledge sufficient to resolve complicated and mechanical problems requiring the use of complicated drawings and specifications and shop mathematics.
  • Tool usage: extensive knowledge of hand tools and machine tools required
  • Schedule flexibility is required as schedules will change based on business demands and project deadlines.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear; and walk or sit.
  • Ability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this role, the incumbent is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Carry through to completion the construction and repair of all kinds of metal parts, tools, machines, and attachments.
  • Change lay-out and set-up of the various machines and mechanical equipment in the plant as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform duties such as assembling, dismantling, moving, installing or repairing to blueprint specifications.
  • Use all hand tools skillfully, including scrapers, chisels, files and measuring instruments.
  • Set-up and operate all machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and shapers.
  • Possess knowledge of shop mathematics, use of charts and tables, knowledge of dimensions and uses of standard bolts, screws, threads and taper pins, and efficient planning of shop work
  • Must be familiar with the working properties of such metals as aluminum, brass, cast iron and various steels.
  • Shape metal parts to precision dimensions within close tolerances as specified.
  • Grind machine tools as required.
  • Fabricate tools, fixtures, and various holding devices as required.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to perform TIG welding, braising, and Die Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance, and Heat Treat
  • Build to print
  • Follow prepared sequence of operations in machining parts.

  • Machine Shop overall conventional equipment expertise and use
  • Drawings and specifications print updates
