About the position
The position requires a candidate with a High School Diploma and at least 5 years of experience in the petrochemical or equivalent industrial field as an inside/outside machinist, millwright, or mechanic. Alternatively, candidates with a two-year Industrial Mechanics Degree and 2 years of relevant mechanic experience will also be considered. The role involves maintaining various types of rotating equipment, including centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, compressors, steam turbines, diaphragm pumps, unit fans, gearboxes, tank mixers, and chain-drive units. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, job documentation, and collaborating with vendors on repairs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain rotating equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, compressors, steam turbines, diaphragm pumps, unit fans, gearboxes, tank mixers, and chain-drive units.
- Research material and equipment required to perform job assignments.
- Perform job documentation.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures.
- Follow safe work practices.
- Climb and lift as required.
- Prepare reports and project documentation.
- Work with vendors/contractors on repairs and maintenance of equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma with 5+ years' experience in the petrochemical or equivalent industrial field as an inside/outside machinist, millwright, or mechanic; OR a two-year Industrial Mechanics Degree with 2 years relevant mechanic experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Stable work history.
- Willingness to work overtime and answer call outs.
- Cooperative and able to work well with others.
- Must be computer literate.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Climbing and lifting required.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in basic math and equipment theory.
- Knowledge of lubrication systems and lubrication fluids.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Familiarity with metallurgy and gaskets.
- Experience with bearings, hand tools, seals, piping, rigging, balancing, torquing, couplings, and fasteners.
- Experience using a burning torch.
- Knowledge of laser and reverse dial alignment.
- Experience with lathe, drill press, key seater, balancing machine, and hydraulic press.
- Understanding of refinery processes.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products, Lotus Notes, and SAP.
