About The Position

Precipart. located in Farmingdale, NY, is looking to hire a Toolmaker - Machinist to join our New Product Introductions (NPI) team. As a Toolmaker - Machinist in NPI you will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and repair of tools used in manufacturing equipment producing custom, precision components, fixtures, and jigs. Additionally, the Toolmaker - Machinist will collaborate with the engineering team to develop prototypes of these NPI components. We're looking for a Tool Maker - Machinist  with extensive experience in toolmaking, CNC and manual machining, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work with tight tolerance parts and tooling. In addition, experience setting up and operating a Wire EDM machine is a plus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience as a Tool Maker - Machinist working on CNC/manual mills, lathes and other toolroom machines used to fabricate precision, custom components with tolerance of +/-.0002
  • Wire EDM set up and operating experience for one of the positions 
  • Be able to program, setup and machine prototype (NPI) and short run parts from engineering blueprints
  • Expertise in designing, fabricating, and repairing high-precision tools, jigs, and fixtures
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM design and programming using Mastercam
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Knowledge of mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, practices, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Tool Maker - Machinist will design, fabricate, and repair high-precision tools, jigs, and fixtures for CNC machinery, ensuring they meet specifications for custom, precision components.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software to develop detailed tool designs and generate CNC programs for tool and NPI fabrication and repair.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repair of tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design and fabricate prototypes of custom precision components.
  • Participate in the development process, providing feedback and suggestions to improve design and manufacturability.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and milling machines (VMC), as well as Wire EDM as needed.
  • Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines, including grinding machines and other toolroom equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain quality and efficiency in the production process.
  • Inspect and measure finished components to ensure they meet stringent quality standards and tolerances.
  • Document and maintain records of quality inspections and tool performance.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and tool enhancements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Responsible for conforming with the company's quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior. (Must be included on all job descriptions)
