Support Activities for Transportation

The position involves operating machine shop equipment to fabricate parts and perform repairs while adhering to budgeted time and HAECO standards of quality. The machinist will work with minimal assistance from more experienced machinists and is expected to perform a variety of machine shop operations including the use of milling machines, lathes, drill presses, hydraulic presses, and grinders. The role also requires the preparation of shop drawings, knowledge of metal identification, and understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation programs.

  • Perform work as assigned utilizing routine and/or non-routine work cards and/or services bulletins within estimated or budgeted hours and within FAA and HAECO standards of quality with minimal assistance from more experienced machinists.
  • Perform typical machine shop operations, operate milling machines (horizontal and vertical), and operate lathes, drill press, hydraulic press, grinders.
  • Perform layout and prepare shop drawings as required.
  • Be knowledgeable in metal identification.
  • Understand and maintain HAECO and customer aircraft maintenance documentation programs.
  • Use and operate safely all appropriate hand tools and other machinery associated with the machine shop.
  • Read and use blueprints, structure repair manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, ATA codes and service bulletins.
  • Assist other machinists in performance of maintenance and/or repairs as appropriate.
  • Keep own and adjacent work area clean, and perform with other assigned machinists weekly shop clean-up.
  • Perform other work as instructed by the Machinist Lead.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have own tools as required by company tool list.
  • Minimum 3 years experience and/or tool and die maker certificate and/or successful completion of apprenticeship program.
  • Read, write and understand the English language.
