About The Position

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Machinist Intern. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide. Job Summary: Entry role focused on training and assisting operators. Performs routine tasks which include cleaning machines, deburring parts, and saw operations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and follow instructions, work orders, and engineered drawings.
Exposure to hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and gauges).
Basic math and computer skills.
Recently completed or currenly enrolled in a mahcining program and have completed at least 50% of the program.
Subject Matter Exposure.
Computer Literate.
Inspecting/Examining Ability.
Mechanical Dexterity.
Machining Aptitude.
Housekeeping.
Inventory Exposure.

Nice To Haves

Mechanical exposure or Vo-Tech training.

Responsibilities

Operates saws and delivers material to operators as needed.
Operates lift devices (chain hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts).
Keeps the material area clean and provides assistance with cycle count needs.
Conducts in-process inspection.
Prepares/enters/completes work order reporting, transactions, documentation, and non-conformances in applicable software and computer systems.
Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.
Must be able to pass the forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.
Performs related duties as assigned.
