About The Position

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Machinist III runs manual equipment and changes parts out on CNC equipment for machining, repair, replace, and modify parts and equipment used in manufacturing to meet specified quality and tolerance standards. This role requires interpreting drawings, selecting appropriate materials, operating a wide range of manual equipment, performing material handling tasks, and maintaining tools and equipment. Essential Duties: Technical Skills & Math Apply mathematical skills including basic operations, fractions/decimals, units of measurement, Cartesian coordinates, and trigonometry (sine, cosine, tangent, angles, radii). Shop Equipment & Machining Machine parts by operating shop equipment including manual and CNC equipment, live tooling and sub spindles, manual lathe and mill, surface grinder, metal saw, band saw, and drill presses. Blueprints & Layout Read, and interpret mechanical assembly drawings by hand and with software, including material sizes, specifications, and tolerances. Identify different metal types and select appropriate materials for each application. Interpret mechanical situations to determine the proper machining methods, tools, and equipment needed to accomplish a task. Material Handling Perform hoisting and rigging operations; operate overhead cranes, jib hoists, and lift trucks. Plan and execute critical lifts and machinery removal/installation with supervisor assistance. Planning & Quality Execute machining jobs from start to finish. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Produce high quality, functional, and visually clean products with pride in workmanship. Non-Essential Duties: Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard free work area. Participate in training and development activities as required. Work overtime when necessary to meet production needs. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • 2 year technical diploma in related field and 1 year of machinist experience or 3+ years machinist experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to machine parts to drawing specifications and tolerances.
  • Experience using live tooling and sub spindles
  • Ability to self-motivate and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must provide personal, basic hand tools, as requested by Supervisor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform all job functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and bend for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must safely and effectively operate machining, fabrication, and shop equipment while following all required safety procedures and PPE guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • As the pathway to Machinist IV, experience using (CNC equipment), (CAM) in Fusion or similar system (ex: Mastercam, SolidWorks)
