About The Position

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of industry experience in a machine shop environment.
• Current machine shop experience including setting up and operating lathes, vertical milling machines, and programming CNC milling machines.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to grind cutting tools and operate various machining equipment.

Nice To Haves

• 8+ years of related experience in machining.
• Technical or vocational school training preferred.
• Experience in a research and development machine shop environment.
• Some experience with sheet metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Create customized scientific instruments, tools, and parts through precision machining.
• Set up and operate lathes, vertical milling machines, and CNC milling machines.
• Read blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work.
• Identify multiple surface finishes and ensure quality control of machined parts.
• Make sheet metal fabrications using sheet metal shear and sheet metal break.
• Use advanced trade mathematics and complicated drawings to complete tasks.
• Run multiple types of machines independently with little to no guidance.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Competitive hourly salary range of $26.92 to $33.61, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Eligibility for overtime pay as a non-exempt position under FLSA.
