About The Position

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of MSD machining equipment including basic levels of machine programming and troubleshooting to fabricate precision parts for developmental and manufacturing efforts. Additionally this role provides mechanical support to produce or repair product and/or equipment across multifunctional teams and departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of three years machine shop experience required
  • Accredited trade school diploma may be substituted for two years industrial experience
  • Experience using basic hand tools and inspection equipment required
  • Ability to operate the following machine shop equipment: CNC Mills Lathe Water jet Drill Press Band saw Table saw Media blasting Pedestal grinder
  • Thorough knowledge of machinery that performs threading, deburring, lapping, polishing, etc.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation of measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, CNC vision system, and CMM.
  • Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Produce parts to specifications using equipment such as power saw, water jet, mill, lathe, drill, media blasting and grinder.
  • Work with Machinist III & IV to develop and optimize complex or production operations.
  • Generate basic programs for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment such as cutting stock on water jet or generating soft jaws for CNC mills.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate various types of conventional/automatic machines, including CNC equipment to fabricate parts and assemblies.
  • Layout, measure, and prepare stock for part manufacture.
  • Operate standard hand and power tools to assemble parts into subassemblies and products.
  • Perform maintenance on machines, equipment, and tools to ensure proper working order.
  • Operate standard inspection equipment to confirm that parts conform to supplied drawings or requirements.
  • Repair or fabricate assemblies and fixtures used in the machine shop, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Understand and follow safety precautions and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
  • Provide training to others on safety precautions and company policies.
  • Specific duties may vary depending upon department requirements.
