The Machinist II is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision components. This role independently interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and technical data to determine machining methods and setup requirements, and operates multiple machines simultaneously to maximize productivity in accordance with established standard work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; or a minimum of five (5) years of related machining experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating manual machining equipment and CNC machinery.
  • Working knowledge of horizontal mills, vertical mills (Haas), VTLs, NC lathes, manual mills, surface grinders, and EDMs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation including blueprints and work instructions.
  • Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work in a loud manufacturing environment with moving mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and perform machining operations per drawings, work instructions, and planning documents.
  • Set up and operate manual machines including lathes and manual mills.
  • Set up and operate CNC equipment including Haas machines and horizontal boring mills.
  • Operate equipment within the EDM cell including Blohm and EDM machines.
  • Calculate feeds and speeds and make necessary machine adjustments.
  • Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on assigned equipment.
  • Meet established production requirements while maintaining quality standards.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and certification of other employees.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support departmental and company objectives.
