Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Education in math (Trig and Geometry)
  • Metalworking
  • Blueprint reading
  • Metrology
  • General machining principles obtained through community college, technical school, or previous work experience.
  • Requires ability to sit or stand for up to 10 hours per day (with breaks) doing repetitive work.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to clearly see and measure features on small parts.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Emotional stability to accept constructive criticism and the need to possible redo work until it is correct.
  • Work with minimum supervision as required pace.
  • Ability to work amiably with coworkers, QA, Engineering, and Management.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, set up and run manual and CNC machining centers and cutting tools (including tool offsets) to produce products as designed and illustrated on engineering technical drawings.
  • Use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment such as dial calipers, micrometers, pin and thread gauges, Smart Scope and Profile Projector to monitor and ensure quality of production parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Perform and record routine self-inspections of first articles and work-in-process in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Employ knowledge of GD&T to interpret engineering drawings, ensuring quality during the manufacturing process.
  • Ability to make minor changes, as well as write and prove programs for basic parts from drawings using G&M codes.
  • Ability to grind tools.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines as required.
  • Willing to work overtime to maintain production schedule.
  • Willing to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as necessary to maintain production schedule.
  • Actively seek opportunities to reduce machining inefficiencies and production cycle times and takes appropriate action to do so when authorized.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities that are reasonable assigned from time to time by the employer or its designated representative.
