The Grind Machine Setup/Operator is responsible for the safe setup and operation of automatic grinding machines to grind springs to specification. This position operates on the second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM and reports to the Manufacturing Manager.

  • Receive and interpret work orders, samples, prints, and instructions.
  • Set up grinder, install tubes, blocks and plates, changing or dressing grinding wheels.
  • Grind springs to proper length, squareness, and load specification.
  • Periodically check spring dimensions with calipers, load testers, and fixtures to ensure parts are to specifications.
  • Complete and maintain all quality records.
  • Adhere to all shop safety requirements and procedures.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in grinding and/or equivalent machine operation and setup in manufacturing setting preferred.
