About The Position

The Steamship Authority is currently accepting applications to fill the union position of Machinist/Diesel Marine Mechanic, primarily working out of the Hyannis Maintenance Facility. The responsibilities of this position include operation of machine shop equipment, overhaul and repair of pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, engine controls and diesel engines. EMD, MTU, Detroit, John Deere and Caterpillar diesel engine experience is desired. Applicant must have 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent in the repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of diesel engines and mechanical systems. Marine or shipyard experience is preferred. Applicant must be fully skilled and able to work from sketches, manuals and blueprints.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of experience in repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of diesel engines and mechanical systems
• Experience with EMD, MTU, Detroit, John Deere and Caterpillar diesel engines
• Ability to work from sketches, manuals and blueprints
