About The Position

GE Vernova is offering a Machinist Apprentice Program designed to accelerate the path to more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. This specialized 3-year program combines academic studies with extensive on-the-job training to develop the fundamental skills required to become a skilled machinist within GE Power. Apprentices will be paid for their on-the-job training, and GE will cover tuition, fees, and books through a tuition reimbursement program. The program includes mentoring, teamwork, and ongoing reviews, leading to the attainment of a 2-year Machine Tool Technology Associate's Degree. Training will cover basic measurements, assembly, safety, print reading, and various other manufacturing processes. Participants will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, develop skills with the latest machining technology, and benefit from personal development through coaching and mentoring, ultimately leading to entry into an in-demand skilled craft.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, by the start of the program on July 20th, of 2026
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA – per semester and cumulative
  • 18 years or older by July 20th, of 2026
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required (no sponsorship for employment visas)
  • Wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes
  • Work in a tobacco free environment
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
  • Strong Team member attitude, and the ability to work closely with other apprentices
  • Ability and eagerness to learn
  • Great communication skills
  • Manufacturing or applicable mechanical experience
