About The Position

The Machinist A - EDM (2nd shift OR Weekend shift) plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to produce precision metal parts according to detailed specifications. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all components meet quality standards and customer requirements. The machinist will be responsible for setting up, programming, and maintaining EDM equipment, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise during production. Working primarily on the 2nd shift or weekend shift, the role demands reliability and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety protocols. Ultimately, the machinist contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the production team by delivering high-quality parts on schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Basic knowledge of machining principles and measurement tools.

  • Formal training or certification in machining or EDM operation.
  • Experience with CNC programming and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate EDM machines to manufacture precision parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Program EDM equipment using appropriate software and input data to achieve desired machining outcomes.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure consistent quality and make adjustments as necessary to maintain tolerances.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of EDM machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify accuracy.
  • Document production activities, machine settings, and any deviations or issues encountered during the shift.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain a safe working environment.
