About The Position

Working at our Cincinnati Aviation Component Service Center, our ACSC facility develops and conducts a wide array of engine component repairs – including rotating parts, complex assemblies and nozzles on 29 different engine models. Machinists own the repair process from start to finish, so they must be willing to bench, inspect, steam/clean, grit blast, etc. to keep hardware moving. The role requires setting up and operating standard machine tools and specialized equipment to make, modify and rework parts and assemblies as directed. Machinists will work from planning or written instructions, written procedures, blueprints, and repair manuals, and will receive work assignments throughout the machine shop, operating various machine tools and performing repetitive and/or single piece lot work.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum experience within a structured training program with additional work experience of 3 years OR 5 years work experience as a skilled machinist.
  • High school degree, or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Apprentice graduate OR 10 years or more machinist experience.
  • Experience with C.N.C. or N.C. or Robotic equipment.
  • Experience monitoring multiple machines at the same time.
  • Experience setting up and/or operating various hand and power tools and basic machine tools and equipment.
  • Experience using shop math, including fraction and decimals, with working knowledge in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting technical documents, drawings, and standards.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and safeguards.
  • Experience in using CMM equipment.
  • 1+ years aerospace machining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate standard machine tools and specialized equipment.
  • Make, modify and rework parts and assemblies as directed.
  • Use all types of measuring and hand tools.
  • Work from planning or written instructions, written procedures, blueprints, and repair manuals.
  • Assist and be directed by higher rated machinist and/or toolmaker.
  • Bench, inspect, steam/clean, grit blast, etc. to keep hardware moving.
  • Maintain associated paperwork.
  • Disposition hardware, maintain/change routers, and instruct others as required.
