About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machining Supervisor to lead our machining department. In this dual-capacity role, you will balance front-line leadership with hands-on operation of CNC lathe and milling equipment. You will be responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring production targets are met, and maintaining our high standards for quality and safety, while also stepping in to set up, operate, and troubleshoot machines as needed. You will spend roughly 40% of your time hands-on machining parts and 60% on front-line leadership, ensuring your team meets safety, quality, and production targets. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3-year supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 7-year experience working with CNC and Manual Lathes.

  • Mastery of CNC Lathe Fundamentals and Operation(Mazak and Doosan Preferred)
  • Mastery of Manual Lathe Operation
  • Mastery of CNC and Manual Mill Operation
  • Perform complex setups of CNC equipment
  • Ability to bring online and commission new CNC equipment
  • Understanding of Tool and Insert selection
  • Problem Solving/Analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 70 lbs.
  • Frequent standing up to 100%
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for grasping, pinching, pulling, pushing; rotating fingers, wrists, and hands; manipulation of machine controls, tools, and parts.
  • Ability to identify parts and tools, observe operations of machine, and visually inspect completed parts.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming (Plus): Ability to program via G-code or CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) is a significant advantage but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Set daily/weekly/monthly workflow and objectives, communicate them to employees and preparing schedule reports for Plant Manager.
  • Manage a team of CNC operators and machinists, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Perform Machinist I & Machinist II duties as needed. ~40% of the time
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas and ensure team members achieve their daily goals in production or service. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Ensure the safe use of machining equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
  • Track absenteeism and timekeeping.
  • Ensure staff follows company and government policies and procedures.
  • Oversee opening and closing of production area maintaining a clean, organized work environment(5S)
  • Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards creating an injury free work area.
  • Respond quickly and practically to emergencies, crises, or unexpected problems.
  • Other duties as assigned, including special projects.
