About The Position

Provides leadership and direction to the manufacturing function of the company to achieve production goals. Responsible for ensuring our product meets the expectations of our customers at every level. To achieve these goals, this position manages multi-shift departmental functions including operations, efficiency, administration, planning, budgeting, maintenance, and safety within department and trains and manages staff to meet company needs and requirements. Constantly seek ways to improve the manufacturing process and steam line production.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Operations Management, or equivalent experience for 8-10 years managing a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CAM software.
  • Knowledge of ERP.
  • Must be familiar with all equipment on shop floor.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Knowledge of process workflows, procedures, and continuous improvement methodologies required.
  • Time management skills and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all CNC machining operations, including mill and lathe departments.
  • Own day-to-day shop floor execution to ensure work is performed safely, to print, and to schedule.
  • Maintain direct visibility of execution through regular presence on the shop floor.
  • Ensure routings, travelers, work instructions, and documentation are accurate and followed.
  • Identify and resolve shop floor issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, or efficiency.
  • Set production priorities and allocate labor, machines, and resources to meet customer commitments.
  • Adjust schedules and staffing based on changing demands or constraints.
  • Remove barriers that impact production flow and on-time delivery.
  • Provide oversight and technical direction for CNC programming for mill and lathe operations.
  • Ensure machining programs are accurate, approved, and aligned with routing, tooling, and quality requirements.
  • Support programming, setup, and troubleshooting efforts as needed to maintain production flow.
  • Review and support first article setups and machining processes to ensure manufacturability and repeatability.
  • Be knowledgeable in machining estimating, including cycle times, setups, tooling, and labor assumptions.
  • Support estimating and quoting activities to ensure accuracy and alignment with shop capabilities.
  • Ensure machining processes are practical, efficient, and executable from quote through production.
  • Directly lead, coach, and hold machining and production personnel accountable for performance.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, priorities, and changes.
  • Make timely operational decisions and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Support hiring, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality system requirements, and customer/regulatory obligations.
  • Enforce standard operating procedures and consistent execution.
  • Support audits, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and cost control.
  • Ensure accurate job status, labor reporting, and inventory transactions in the ERP/data collection system.
  • Support customer commitments through on-time delivery and issue resolution.
  • Monitor operational performance, labor utilization, and cost drivers.
