About The Position

The Machinery Technician is a skilled professional responsible for ensuring the operational reliability of all mechanical systems within our mail-order pharmacy facility. This role includes troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and complex repairs of high-speed packaging, labeling, and distribution automation. The technician is a critical problem-solver who minimizes equipment downtime, directly supporting the continuous flow of pharmaceutical orders in a regulated environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, or similar role in a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution setting.
  • Basic English with the ability to read and write.
  • Proven ability to diagnose the root cause of mechanical malfunctions and implement effective repairs under time constraints.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems including power transmission (belts, chains, gears), bearings, lubrication, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • High proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and advanced tools for alignment, measurement, and fabrication.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret complex technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and OEM documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing PM tasks that extend equipment life.
  • A self-starter who can work independently, prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment, and suggest improvements to processes.
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to working within a regulated (cGMP) framework, including meticulous documentation practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or completion of a technical certification program in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of mechanical failures on conveyor systems, automated sorters, pill counters, capping machines, and cartoning equipment.
  • Execute and document detailed preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure machinery operates at peak efficiency and complies with manufacturer specifications.
  • Disassemble and reassemble complex mechanical assemblies (e.g., gearboxes, drive trains, pneumatic systems) to replace worn components like bearings, seals, chains, and sprockets.
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment tools) to measure parts for wear, ensure proper alignment, and verify tolerances during repairs and installations.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to analyze recurring issues and implement robust, long-term solutions to improve machine reliability.
  • Read and interpret complex mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to diagnose system failures accurately.
  • Support the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety procedures and quality standards required in a pharmaceutical production environment.
