About The Position

Noblis MSD supports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division in delivering safe, reliable, and mission-ready platforms to the Fleet. Our expertise spans systems engineering, test and evaluation, cybersecurity, integration, and lifecycle support. We are seeking a Machinery Control System (MCS) Technician to support critical infrastructure and operations. As a Machinery Control System (MCS) Technician, you will support both laboratory and shipboard operations for a U.S. Navy ship sustainment program. In this role, you will collaborate with Navy personnel, including government and civilian engineers, at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance, installation, and testing activities at a land-based test site, as well as providing occasional shipboard support for system upgrades and technical assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field or Associate’s degree in a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or a minimum of six (6) years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, coordinating tasks across multiple work-streams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in equipment troubleshooting and a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Proficiency in documenting hardware installations accurately and thoroughly
  • Solid mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and determine root causes of equipment failures
  • Hands-on experience with standard electronic test equipment, including multi-meters and oscilloscopes
  • US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • The ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Capability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions found on a Naval ship
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Job will be at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and you must be able to work on site

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with naval or commercial shipboard machinery control systems
  • Familiarity with modular, backplane-based hardware architectures
  • Working knowledge of basic networking concepts and principles

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems to support laboratory testing efforts
  • Assist with the installation and testing of newly developed hardware in the lab environment
  • Travel occasionally to support shipboard installations and provide technical assistance during modernization efforts and emergent fleet events
  • Develop, document, and update hardware installation procedures and preventative maintenance guidelines
  • Test and validate equipment in the lab to support shipboard system deployment and fulfillment needs
  • Perform board-level maintenance and fault isolation on embedded control systems
