About The Position

Sulzer Turbo Services is seeking a skilled Machine Tool Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of precision machining equipment used in the repair and servicing of turbomachinery components. This role is crucial for ensuring that machine tools, including manual lathes, surface grinders, milling machines, CNC equipment, and horizontal and vertical machining centers, operate safely, efficiently, and within required tolerances. The technician's efforts directly support high-quality manufacturing and repair operations, contributing to Sulzer's mission of enabling a prosperous and more sustainable society through innovative engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in machining, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10 years’ experience maintaining machine tools or industrial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining operations and precision measurement tools.
  • Experience with CNC troubleshooting preferred.
  • Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in turbomachinery, rotating equipment, or heavy industrial repair.
  • Familiarity with vibration analysis or alignment practices.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machine tools including manual lathes, surface grinders, milling machines, CNC equipment, and horizontal and vertical machining centers.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
  • Perform machine alignments, calibrations, and precision adjustments.
  • Install, test, and commission new or rebuilt equipment.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for shop equipment.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Support production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Observe Company Safety Policy and Procedures; follow and support all STS Safety Policies and ISO Procedures.
  • Complete and properly document all tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Report any mechanical issues identified during inspections to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Work closely and maintain clear communication with other departments, mechanical personnel, Leadman, and Supervisors.
  • Complete all company-required training programs.
