The Role: Our site in Bedford, MA is seeking a Machine Technician to join our team. This will be on 3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday, 10 pm to 6:30 am, and will support running grinding and polishing equipment but also should be willing to cross train across other cells to support business needs. This position will be training 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm, for the first 3 months before transferring to 3rd shift. The individual is able to operate and assess material removal and surface modification processes, as well as train others to do the same. Additionally, the individual should understand upstream and downstream manufacturing processes. The position requires technical ability, machine troubleshooting, teamwork, communication, problem-solving skills, and the willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will require working on chemicals including but not limited to IPA, Acetone, and HCl.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional college or technical coursework preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience (machine operation experience is a plus).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with operators, engineers, and managers.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and a strong quality mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to plot and interpret process data.
  • Comfortable using computer systems such as SAP and ETQ for inventory, process transactions, and quality management.
  • Trained and experienced in machine operation safety protocols.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in English to read documentation, communicate effectively, and complete written tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an understanding of root cause analysis concepts.
  • Basic math skills, including arithmetic and algebra; geometry is a plus.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs and stand for most of the shift.
  • Willing to work weekend overtime when required.
  • Attends and adheres to all required safety training.

Nice To Haves

  • 4-8 years of experience in running surface modification processes like CMP, grinding, machining, lapping or polishing.
  • Knowledge of ceramic material surface modifications with CMP, grinding, machining, lapping or polishing is a plus
  • Knowledge of CNC machines, programming and fixture design
  • Experienced and well-versed with requirement of ultra-high precision manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety best practices and consistently wear required PPE while on the production floor.
  • Understand precision machining and grinding processes, and work with product to ensure all quality requirements are met.
  • Fixture, operate, and DE fixture parts using grinding and polishing equipment.
  • Perform required quality inspections, including visual checks and the use of metrology tools.
  • Plan and perform routine equipment maintenance safely to ensure optimal tool performance.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment and product quality issues before escalating to Engineering.
  • Perform equipment setup, operation, shutdown, and all associated process steps in alignment with safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Follow production priorities, load equipment accordingly, and track and communicate work order status to shift leads.
  • Read and interpret customer and engineering part schematics.
  • Record work confirmations in SAP.
  • Enter production and inspection data into CamLine and interpret results to confirm process control.
  • Provide feedback to Engineers on opportunities for process improvements.
  • Solve processing challenges effectively while minimizing impact to yield, lead time, and throughput.
  • Follow specifications, work orders, and SOPs provided by Process Engineers, Development Engineers, and Production Supervisors; support updates and redlining when necessary.
  • Notify Process Engineers and/or Production Supervisors of any discrepancies to maintain quality standards and ensure safe operations at all times.
  • Work collaboratively within the team and with cross functional groups to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate and promote Entegris PACE values in daily work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with 6S practices.
