The Department of Acute Renal Dialysis at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Medical Instrumentation Specialist / Machine Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and repairing Hemodialysis equipment for treatments and use, monitoring calibrations of machines and related equipment as per manufacturers' guidelines. This role includes maintenance, emergency repairs, and servicing of equipment, disassembling equipment to repair or replace defective parts, reassembling, adjusting, and calibrating precision components, and performing analysis to isolate mechanical or electronic malfunctions. Additionally, the technician will inspect and test equipment to ensure specified functional qualities, perform preventive maintenance and quality control, and conduct staff teaching and in-services. The role also involves cleaning and sanitizing equipment using appropriate agents, adhering to internal controls established for the department, collecting water samples, performing water testing for chlorine, mixing bicarb bath solution, and recording all work performed such as results of tests, diagnoses, and repairs. The technician must demonstrate concerns for cleanliness of self, tools, and work area, store and stock equipment safely and clearly dated, follow infection control guidelines as per Hemodialysis guidelines, ensure compliance with the Department of Health and the manufacturer's recommendations for environmental standards, transport equipment, respond to equipment problems of home patients as needed, and be available to work on-call shifts as required.
