About The Position

Aegis is seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to join our client's organization in Chicago, IL (60619). This position is on 2nd shift (2-10 pm) with a 90 day training period on first shift (6 am-2 pm). The ideal candidate has the following experience: HS diploma or GED 5+ years of machining experience Steel or steel forging experience if not worked for a heavy industry manufacturer. Exposure to manufacturing, noise, moving machinery, metal chips and a variety of temperatures. 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience (8-12 direct reports on 2nd shift) Experience with CNC Machining – mainly milling machines, Ingersoll and Gray machines) Experience with G-Code, tooling, feeds & speeds, and set up practices. Able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and GD&T. Able to use precision measurement tools (Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) Experience working in an ERP system (they use a homegrown one) – used for production scheduling. Able to lead teams in a fast-paced environment & experience with a demanding production schedule that has daily changes. Problem solving and decision-making skills. Experience communicating with the shop floor employees, corporate, and management. Standing, walking, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and have used proper PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toe footwear) Experience with KPIs – on time completion of machining operations, scrap and rework rates, machine uptime and utilization, safety performances, and employee productivity and engagement. Nice to have: Technical or trade school training in machining. Lean manufacturing and CI project experience. Union experience

Requirements

HS diploma or GED
5+ years of machining experience
Steel or steel forging experience if not worked for a heavy industry manufacturer.
