About The Position

Moseley Technical is seeking a hands-on, growth-oriented Machine Shop Manager to lead daily operations, elevate shop performance, and build a strong, collaborative machining team. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with strong programming experience who can bring structure, organization, and forward planning to a shop environment while mentoring and developing talent. You’ll play a critical role in transforming shop operations—driving efficiency, improving workflow, and aligning closely with production management to ensure jobs are properly planned and executed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Strong hands-on machining background (CNC mill/lathe experience)
  • Proven experience with Surfcam and/or Mastercam programming
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise in a machine shop environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing or transitioning CAM software (Mastercam a plus)
  • Background in shop reorganization, process improvement, or turnaround environments
  • Experience working closely with production planning/scheduling teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all day-to-day machine shop operations
  • Bring structure and organization to improve shop efficiency and workflow
  • Implement best practices for scheduling, tooling, setup, and job execution
  • Partner with production management to proactively plan upcoming jobs and manage queue/scheduling
  • Program CNC machines using Surfcam (required) and/or Mastercam (highly preferred)
  • Support the transition/evaluation of Mastercam implementation
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize programs for efficiency and quality
  • Ensure adherence to tight tolerances and quality standards
  • Mentor, train, and develop machinists to enhance skill levels and performance
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented shop culture
  • Provide hands-on guidance and technical leadership on the floor
  • Build accountability while maintaining strong working relationships with the team
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase throughput
  • Drive organization initiatives within the shop (layout, tooling, processes)
  • Support long-term growth initiatives and scalability of operations
