About The Position

We are seeking a Machine Shop Coordinator to take ownership of our newly created machine shop, located just a short walk from our headquarters. This role is a rare opportunity to shape the foundation of a brand-new fabrication space—establishing best practices, building capabilities, and supporting the company’s efforts to vertically integrate. This hands-on role will involve maintaining and operating advanced fabrication equipment, supporting engineering and production teams with rapid prototypes and short-run jobs, and helping define how our internal machine shop operates. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of CNC tools, is eager to take initiative, and is excited by the challenge of building something from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Experience operating and maintaining CNC equipment; strong understanding of CAM and G-code.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop safety and ability to train others.
  • Ability to generate 2D and 3D toolpaths using CAM software.
  • Forklift certified; experience driving a box truck or similar vehicle.
  • Familiarity with fabrication equipment and machine shop best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in robotics, especially in prototyping or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using ERP systems to track materials or jobs.
  • Welding, deburring, tapping, or assembly experience is a plus.
  • Comfort documenting processes, setups, and toolpaths for repeatability.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain CNC and manual fabrication equipment including mills, lathes, fiber laser, press brake, and routers.
  • Support fast-turn prototype builds for engineering teams as well as production runs for manufacturing operations.
  • Take ownership of the machine shop, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and readiness of the space.
  • Move materials between our HQ and the machine shop using a forklift, box truck, and Slip Robots! as needed.
  • Develop safe operating procedures (SOPs) and train others in equipment use and shop best practices.
  • Record toolpaths, setups, and work instructions to enable repeatability and scale.
  • Support material tracking, scheduling, and work order documentation within our ERP system.
  • Assist as an Engineering Technician when workload permits; no task is too small.

Benefits

  • Innovative Environment: Work on groundbreaking robotic systems that are shaping the future of logistics.
  • Collaborative Team: Be a part of a passionate, talented team where your input and expertise matter.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunities to learn, grow, and advance in the exciting field of robotics and automation.
