About The Position

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Machine Set Up Operator in our York, PA location. The Machine Set Up Operator is responsible for the operation and set up of equipment. The Machine Set Up Operator performs quality checks to ensure products are meeting customer specifications and Pennex quality standards. Performance of routine preventative maintenance to successfully operate the manufacturing cells may be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent .
  • 2 to 4 years of machine operation or set up in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read or understand blueprints
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight, volume, and distance measurements
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must have regular attendance
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available

Responsibilities

  • Properly loads and unloads materials in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the integrity of the manufacturing process.
  • Prevents damage to the equipment and works safely to avoid injury to self and others.
  • Monitors proper machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusts machines as necessary to maintain quality production.
  • Inspects pieces for defects and measures pieces to determine accuracy of machining operations.
  • Uses precision tools, templates, and other measuring instruments during inspections.
  • Performs ongoing and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks including maintaining cutting fluids within defined specifications.
  • Performs job changeovers which includes switching work holding and cutting tool packages, machine or cell controller programs/parameters, and verification of task completion.
  • Operates peripheral equipment as needed to maintain production.
  • Observes and analyzes tasks and processes to provide feedback for continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicates effectively, provides information to maintain continuity between shifts.
  • Maintains an orderly work environment as defined by 6S principles.
  • Performs all tasks in a timely and responsible manner while adhering to all quality standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Understands and complies with both written and verbal work instructions and procedures to ensure all product is manufactured to specifications.
  • Performs other duties as required.
