This is a 3-4-year competency-based Maintenance Technician Development program. This program has been developed to meet the needs for qualified Maintenance Technicians in the Lafayette, IN facility, through on-the-job training and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) study program. The trainee will be assigned to a variety of training stations with specific learning activities throughout the facility that pertain to their skill path, and will rotate between first, second and third shifts as needed to complete learning requirements. Upon successful completion of the program, the trainee will be given the opportunity to become a level 6 Maintenance Technician within Facilities Engineering.

Requirements

  • Strong computer hardware, network and software skills and knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical skills, hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, medium to heavy duty assembly and technical environment.
  • Must pass colorblind test.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands.

Responsibilities

  • Complete on-the-job training and Individual Learning Plan (ILP) study program.
  • Rotate between first, second, and third shifts as needed.
  • Take classes at a local Ivy Tech community college to acquire a technical certificate.
  • Work at heights, climb ladders, work underground, and in confined spaces.
  • Lead personal learning by working within the ILP and with tradesmen.
