As a Machine Operator at AT&T, you will play a crucial role in installing and maintaining advanced technology that connects customers to essential services. This position involves working independently in the field, utilizing various machinery to place buried service wire, and ensuring the highest levels of service while adhering to safety practices.

  • Locate buried facilities near the route of 'B' service wire using appropriate equipment.
  • Operate a company vehicle with trailer and machinery.
  • Manual excavation utilizing a shovel.
  • Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities or sprinkler systems.
  • Provide temporary repairs to low voltage buried utilities, sprinkler systems, and sewage field lines damaged while performing other duties.
  • Perform periodic maintenance and non-complex repairs to equipment used in the performance of other responsibilities.
  • Read and interpret simple instructions.
  • Follow established safety practices and procedures including the manufacturer's specifications for operation or use of equipment.
  • Desire to work Monday through Friday with a shift length of 8 hours.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime and holidays as service conditions require.
  • Eager to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Able to utilize various types of machines and tools.
  • Lift and move objects up to 120 pounds.
  • Use computers including hand-held devices to update work status and check new assignments.
  • Light commercial driver's license or equivalent required, depending on state law, and be able to drive manual shift in some assignments.
  • Attain and maintain a DOT medical card.
  • Complete on-the-job and/or classroom training as required.
  • Demonstrate competency in the training requirements during probationary period to satisfy qualification achievement.
  • Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable.
  • Experience with operating similar equipment is desirable.
