About The Position

Kennametal Inc. is seeking a qualified Machine Operator for the Rod Line. The Machine Operator will perform all functions associated with the Cutting Process and secondary processes, which include identifying each cut piece based on the Order's criteria, inspecting the finished product for material defects, and performing the final packaging of the product for shipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 months - 1 year of experience with metal cutting preferred
• Understand and use measuring tools and devices
• Ability to stand, sit, and possibly lift up to 33 pounds
• Must have basic computer skills
• Able to read, write, and speak English fluently and clearly
• Ability to work in varied temperatures, and conditions dependent on the outside environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares saw program according to a material type and size being cut and accurately cuts material based on Customer's Order specifications.
• Verifies correct material length for the job prior to identifying each cut piece.
• Removes cut stock from the machine and maintains production count.
• Moves raw material stock from Saw Cutting Machines either to Recycling Bins or stock.
• Packages materials for shipments.
• Packages finished product for shipping (boxing, labeling, shrink wrapping, etc.) as required.
• Performs manual labor required for operating machinery.
• Maintains a strong sense of urgency, being a self-driven, detail-oriented individual.
• Ensures detail orientation, steady hands, and the ability to follow instructions and interpret drawings.
• Performs all secondary operations, such as polishing and deburring.
• Ensures that no damaged raw material is accepted and no damaged product is sent out.
• Focuses on quality and Customer satisfaction.
• Participates fully in product training sessions, meetings, skills training, and professional development classes.
• Works effectively in a fast-paced team environment, and sees projects through to completion.
• Performs any other duties assigned by Management.
