Marmon Industrial Energy & Infrastructure (MIEI) – Mount Pleasant Is one of six specialty wire, cable, and tubing solution manufacturing companies located throughout North America. We have over 100 years of innovative engineered solutions for critical, industrial, and commercial applications. We are the experts in our industry. This will be a multi-machine role that includes the twist machine, respool, and taping operations. The Twist Operator is responsible for the setting-up and operation of the twisters to combine component sub-assemblies into a twisted cable with the addition of tape(s) as required. Day shifts are typically Mon-Thur 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Ability to process information to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, verify information or data.
  • Ability to monitor and review information to detect and assess problems.
  • Near Vision - ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of observer)
  • Far Vision – ability to see details at a distance
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving of the whole body, such as climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, and handling of material.
  • Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Spend time standing, as well as sitting, bending, squatting, and reaching
  • Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
  • Wear common protective and safety equipment
  • Spend time making repetitive motions
  • Lifting of at least 70 pounds
  • Indoors, environmentally controlled

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training, preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred, but not required
  • Monitoring – watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Equipment selection – determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Control Precision – adjust controls of the machine to exact positions
  • Communication – understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Getting information – observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
  • Cognitive thinking – problem solving, prioritizing activities, allocate resources, maintain an adequate supply of materials, make sound decisions, and recommend solutions in troubleshooting and repairing in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ability to make quick decisive decisions concerning product and machine adjustments needed to ensure product quality

Responsibilities

  • Strive to achieve continuous improvement in all activities, processes, and with all projects at Dekoron.
  • Understanding of safety practices, and the ability to perform quality work without supervision.
  • Load/unload reels of insulated or bare wire, using electric hoist as required into proper payoff positions.
  • String components through bows and machine
  • Load/unload tapes onto taping heads and string-up
  • Set-up equipment with proper gear ratio, tension, etc.
  • Operate machines and auxiliary equipment to perform function
  • Coordinate operation of two twisting process/lines
  • Clean, oil, and maintain rollers/guides in machine
  • Maintain manufacturing control system paperwork (line logs, move tickets, etc.)
  • Unload finished products and check continuity
  • Inspect product/samples for quality acceptance and maintain logs, SPC forms, etc.
  • Obeys all safety rules and company policies
  • Maintain work area housekeeping and assist in department housekeeping
  • Report unusual conditions, defective material, or equipment to a supervisor
  • Help to maintain inventory where applicable
  • Ability to follow correct procedures for Kanban of insulated wire, bare drain wire, and shielding tapes
  • Communicate with other shift operators as to schedule and/or problems
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
