About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating production equipment used in the manufacture and assembly of electric motor components. This role supports the production of high-quality electric motors by safely operating machinery, performing in-process inspections, and following established manufacturing and quality standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and diagrams
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25–35 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms
  • Visual acuity for inspection of small components
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise and machinery
  • Shift work and overtime may be required based on production needs

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, or production experience
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles (voltage, resistance, insulation) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines and equipment used in electric motor production, including: Coil winding and stator winding machines
  • Presses for shaft, bearing, and rotor assembly
  • Lathes, drill presses, or balancing equipment
  • Insulation insertion and forming machines
  • Set up and adjust machines according to work instructions, routings, and production schedules
  • Load laminations, wire, shafts, bearings, and other motor components into machines
  • Monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of motor components (stators, rotors, housings)
  • Measure electrical and mechanical characteristics using gauges, calipers, micrometers, or basic electrical test equipment
  • Identify defects such as damaged insulation, improper winding patterns, out-of-tolerance dimensions, or assembly issues
  • Perform basic electrical tests such as continuity, resistance, or hipot testing as required
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and test documentation
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety guidelines
  • Support lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
