Operation includes machine set up, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality assurance. While assuring efficient manufacturing of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred
  • Ability to adhere to Berry's Safety, Health and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards
  • Ability to handle & resolve problems
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read, write, follow written and verbal instructions and specifications in English to complete required forms and verify quality products are produced
  • Ability to read a ruler, tape measure, and gauge caliper device to 1/8"
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in warm, humid and cool climates for 12 or more hours per day or night
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, days or nights, for 12 or more hours
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearing
  • Must have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling and raising arms at or above shoulder height
  • Must not be afraid of heights

Responsibilities

  • Support and comply with safety and environmental guidelines
  • Perform changeovers and completes changeover setup form
  • Arrange assistance for changeover
  • Responsible for the cleaning of blenders and other equipment for material changes
  • Pre-blend and oversee the blending or mixing of resins off-line as well as online
  • Complete paperwork for production sheet, labor log, scrap sheet and daily functional check sheet
  • Make sure scrap gets weighed and recorded on shift paperwork or entered in MRP system
  • Set all secondary equipment (printer, punches, venting, portable winders, etc.) and test functionality to assure proper set-up and operation
  • Watch for and react to stack light alerts
  • Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain required product quality and/or as identified by Packer/Inspector
  • Implement Amcor incident protocol for medical assistance and apply first aid if trained
  • Identify equipment shortfalls and complete maintenance request forms
  • Closes orders in system when complete
  • Identifies and strives to meet expected rates or standards of production and notes correct variance code in system
  • Collect, weigh, and documents all scrap; enters in system
  • Assure repro is being run into product at predetermined
  • Bill of Materials adjustments and corrections
  • Works a 12-hour day, 3 & 4 days a week (84 hours every two weeks); weekend work is mandatory
  • Must be punctual, on-time and present at workspace when shift starts
  • Maintains housekeeping throughout production area
  • Helps relieve Teammates for break periods
  • Perform and document 2-hour quality checks
  • Perform other related functions and duties as assigned or required
  • Continue to check run rates
  • Performs quality checks front to back (resins, silos, computer info., blender settings, etc.)
  • Ensures tools are in proper location
  • Ensures axillary equipment is in working condition (press, vents V-board, etc.)
  • Ensures the ink room is in proper order
  • Cleans around extruders and blenders
  • Documents any maintenance and safety concerns
  • Perform all duties of a Utility
