About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting CNC and/or manual machining equipment to meet production, quality, and safety standards. This role ensures machines are properly set up, materials are accurately processed, and finished components meet specifications. The Machine Operator plays a key role in maintaining production flow, identifying issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Machine Shop.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required preferred
  • Candidates with relevant hands-on manufacturing or machine operation experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machine operation environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of machining processes and production workflows
  • Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical documents
  • Basic math skills (measurements, conversions, and calculations)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating CNC equipment (lathes, mills, verticals, horizontals)
  • Basic troubleshooting and machine adjustment experience
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement practices
  • Exposure to ERP or production tracking systems

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety standards
  • Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment or process issues; escalate as needed
  • Ensure all parts meet blueprint specifications and quality requirements
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records, including scrap and rework tracking
  • Support material handling by properly staging and moving parts through the production process
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in alignment with 5S standards
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements at all times
  • Collaborate with supervisors, set-up operators, and team members to meet daily production targets
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues promptly
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and reduce waste
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role
