Machine Operator
About The Position
The Townsend Machine Operator is a member of a team with the responsibility to maintain the efficient flow of material of several machines at a time. Additionally, they will set up machines, verify the quality of the produced product, and sharpen tooling. The position includes manual support to production activities, material transactions, inspection, and packaging of finished goods. Uses ERP software and process paperwork, maintains work cell and ensures quality and production standards are met. Reports work results, priorities, progress, and other related activities to management, in the support of company initiatives, standards, policies, and overall continuous improvement.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-year related work experience preferred.
- Prior machine operator experience.
- Able to multi-task.
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong reading and math skills.
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Basic Computer Skills, i.e. data entry, general knowledge.
- Operate basic hand tools, i.e. air drivers, wrenches etc.
- Able to use precision inspection instruments, read blueprints, and complete required labor reports.
- Employees use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Multi-tasks to operate more than one machine at a time.
- Set up/ sharpen tooling in machine.
- Shovel parts into machine or use hopper dumper.
- Make machine adjustments as needed.
- Perform quality inspections.
- Read blueprints and use measuring tools.
- Operate lift truck to move product, scrap etc.
- Notify the group leader of quality, machine, inventory issues, etc.
- Complete required paperwork, (i.e. labor reports, scrap reports, etc.).
- Perform 5-S duties, maintain clean work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
