Buck Company is seeking a motivated Shell Core Machine Operator to join our 2nd shift team! In this role, you'll work in our Core Room, setting up and operating large production machines, performing preventative maintenance and safety checks, and ensuring consistent, high-quality products. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing machinery.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, work orders, and technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a hot, dusty environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a foundry or core-making environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate core shell machines to produce sand cores according to production specifications and quality standards.
  • Set up and adjust equipment parameters such as temperature, timing, and sand coating levels to achieve proper curing and shell thickness.
  • Inspect and measure cores for dimensional accuracy, defects, and strength before releasing them to molding or storage.
  • Handle and maintain tooling and core boxes, ensuring proper alignment, cleanliness, and readiness for production.
  • Monitor machine performance, identifying and reporting malfunctions or deviations to maintenance or supervision.
  • Maintain accurate production records and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean work area.
  • Assist in preventative maintenance and cleaning of core-making machines and associated equipment.
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to improve processes and reduce scrap or downtime.
