Your Opportunity: The Herff Jones team is looking for a Seasonal Machine Operator. As a member of our production team, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting the creation and distribution of diploma frames to help our customers celebrate some of their greatest achievements. While you’ll lean heavily on your abilities, your greatest asset will be your drive and commitment to quality and safety. We live and work in a team environment and rely heavily on each other to assist across a variety of functions. Flexibility and a willingness to jump right in to help the team are crucial to the success in this role. If you have a strong attention to detail, we want you! This is a full-time, Seasonal position with the possibility of converting to full-time associate at the end of the season based on performance, attendance, and position availability. Seasons vary between November through end of May. 2nd Shift: Standard shift is 1230 pm – 9pm, Monday through Friday. Hours fluctuate to ten- and twelve-hour days if needed during peak season including Saturdays and Sundays if necessary due to customer demand.

Requirements

  • Must have strong communication skills and a self starter.
  • Reading, writing and math skills commensurate with job duties. Including proficiency reading a ruler.
  • Must be able to recognize colors and different materials and sizes to optimize yields.
  • Must be able to work all mandatory overtime.
  • Daily activity includes but is not limited to: Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting, climbing step ladder or stairs.
  • Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Standing for 8 hours a day or longer.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.
  • Ability to work in an environment with repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, and elbows.
  • Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as CNC or machine operator highly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to inspect all component parts to make certain they meet quality standards and correspond to the bundling ticket.
  • Learn product lines, and how to operate the machinery in your department and it’s functions.
  • Responsible for finished product meeting all quality standards.
  • Responsible for cleaning machine, and troubleshooting of machines.
  • Work in other departments and work areas/machinery as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with ability to multitask.
  • Perform all assigned work effectively and on schedule.
  • Record any quality or scrap issues.
  • Notify management of any safety concerns or quality issues.
  • Team player with an eager attitude to complete other tasks assigned, based on business demand.
