About The Position

The Royal Group, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking Machine Operators (2nd & 3rd Shift) to support our Cicero, IL facility. The Machine Operator is responsible for all activities associated with running the machine including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommendation of improvements. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Royal Group’s mission is to provide value-added solutions to the most demanding customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to add, to subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use a tape measure; and to use a computer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing Trade certification is a plus, but it not required.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience is preferred. Corrugated packaging experience is preferred, not required.
  • Using a tape measure, preferred.
  • Strong manufacturing process skills, preferred.
  • Corrugated skills, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Setup machine accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
  • Monitor quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
  • Cross train on other machines and switch duties as needed.
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs, be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Operate the machine at expectation levels for quality and production.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Practice safe work habits always.
  • Make recommendations for optimizing the production schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
  • Train and assist Help/Assistant with job duties at the machine.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Ability to work overtime as the business requires.
  • Ability to trouble shoot issues on machine to minimize downtime and material waste.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Flexibility to work on different machines and different crews.
  • Adaptable- working with new technology and learning.
  • Punctuality-be on time every scheduled workday.
  • Strong willingness to grow and personal development.
