Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of
machinery used in the production of corrugated products. This includes ensuring
machine efficiency, monitoring product quality, and training other operators.
Machine Setup & Operation:
Accurately set up designated machine according to established setup
procedures.
Operate machinery at optimal capacity and speed, ensuring smooth
production runs.
Ensure cutting dies are secured properly, and inspect all dies before and
after each run for needed repairs.
Maximize equipment utilization while adhering to safety and quality
standards.
Quality Control & Monitoring:
Monitor and inspect the quality of boxes, checking for issues such as
loose liners, warping, incorrect sizing, and print quality.
Report any production irregularities or quality concerns to the
supervisor.
Maintenance & Safety:
Proactively identify and address equipment issues by submitting
maintenance work orders and performing basic troubleshooting.
Comply with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Follow company policies related to safety, production, and machine
operation.
Training:
Assist in training new machine operators and support cross-training on
other machines within the department.
Documentation & Reporting:
Complete required documentation accurately and on time, including
production data, machine operational status, and quality control data.
Assist with scheduling to meet production goals and optimize machine
uptime.
Additional Duties:
Assist with other duties as assigned by the management team.
Recommend improvements in machine operations and production efficiency.
Ability to read and follow instructions, including factory masters and
job-specific guidelines.
Ability to read a tape measure accurately and calculate measurements,
percentages, volume, and rates using basic math concepts.
Ability to solve problems using common sense and apply instructions in
various forms (written, oral, graphic).
Able to deal with concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities for efficient machine
operation.
Familiarity with product layouts, production specifications, and quality
standards.
Ability to regularly stand, walk, talk, or hear.
Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, and reach.
Occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100
pounds occasionally.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust
focus.
High school diploma or GED.
Prior experience in the corrugated industry.
6+ months of experience as a Press Department First Helper or in the Press
and Finishing Departments.
