Smith is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with approximately 12,000 employees at operations in the United States, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.Primary FunctionThe 1st Shift Machine Operator will be responsible for the manufacturing of water heater components per department standards.  This position serves in the overall function and operation of the heating, plating, and burner department. The operator will cross-train on operations in each department and follow quality and safety standards.  Operator will use measurement tools, work instructions, and production schedule to meet daily production needs and customer requirements along with monitoring performance to optimize production processes.

Requirements

  • GED/High School Diploma
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with other team members
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and production specifications
  • Basic computer skills for accessing SAP and locating blueprints
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required

Responsibilities

  • Performing quality checks for any leakage and ensuring resistance, automated welds and angle cuts meets product specifications
  • Measuring product quantities using measurement instruments including calipers, scales, micrometers, angle finders, and resistance checker
  • Monitoring the performance of equipment, gauges, and charts in department area
  • Following work instructions when performing machine changeovers as necessary
  • Moving and pulling finished goods to appropriate designated areas using a pallet jack
  • Performing general housekeeping to ensure work area is kept clean and organized
  • Complying with all safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment
  • Assisting and training new team members on the operation process and equipment usage
