About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our Fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating various sheet metal fabrication machines, ensuring the production of high-quality parts in a safe and efficient manner. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, assembly prints, packing lists, and shop orders.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet quality standards consistently.
  • Strong knowledge of fractions, decimals, and basic math for measurements and calculations.
  • Proficient with tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Capable of operating machines in a safe and productive manner.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in a production environment or machine operation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training
  • Global Harmonization System (GHS) Training
  • Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) Training
  • Tow Motor and Overhead Crane Certification (Onsite training available).
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching overhead, and grasping.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and interpret prints, setup sheets, and assembly instructions for each project.
  • Operate sheet metal fabrication machines in a productive and safe manner.
  • Set up machines by selecting appropriate programs and tools based on specifications and part requirements.
  • Ensure proper die clearance for each setup to avoid damage and ensure precision.
  • Load and secure various sizes of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel onto machines.
  • Measure parts using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools, making adjustments as necessary to ensure accuracy.
  • Record daily production data and report it on routing sheets.
  • Perform self-setup of machines by matching programs to materials and tools.
  • Safely operate a tow motor and overhead crane to assist in handling materials.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and support as needed.
  • Identify and report any operational or quality issues to the Department Lead, Production Supervisor, and/or Quality Control.
