About The Position

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is now accepting applications for full-time Machine Operators to work in our Preform department at our Carbide facility. If you appreciate manufacturing, the attention to detail it requires, and taking pride in doing a job well, then we encourage you to apply. This is an excellent ENTRY LEVEL position that has the potential to lead to an in-house Apprenticeship /Certificate program and which also provides an opportunity to advance your skills and grow within our employee-owned company. Position is primarily daylight, but candidates must be available for daylight, afternoon and midnight shifts and potentially Saturday morning when workload requires.

Requirements

  • Must have math & mechanical skills/aptitude.
  • Must have the ability & desire to do precision work.
  • Able to work well independently and cooperatively with team.
  • Candidates must be able to stand 8-10 hours per day, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, blueprint reading and measurement tools such as calipers & micrometers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, plan and prepare work.
  • Analyze tasks and establish appropriate sequence of operations.
  • Read prints & job orders for product specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances and machine set-up requirements.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines.
  • Set-up and safely operate various machining equipment such as manual and CNC lathes, mills, jig bores, and grinders in order to machine or grind components to customer specifications.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
