About The Position

As a Machine Operator – Utility at Atlas Tube , a division of Zekelman Industries , in Kansas City, MO, you will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English and maintain production records and logs.
  • Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
  • Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment required for the role.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform constant movement requiring manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours when required.
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
  • Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform advanced equipment setup and calibration to meet production requirements.
  • Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
  • Record and report quality deficiencies to supervisors or the quality department.
  • Maintain equipment tooling and tools required for job completion.
  • Diagnose equipment and quality issues while minimizing scrap and downtime.
  • Complete production, changeover, and scrap material reports accurately.
  • Assist maintenance teams with equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards.
