The position of Machine Operator maintains the packaging machine within acceptable tolerances, maintains ongoing production to achieve schedule goals while keeping raw and packaging material scrap and downtime as low as possible. Performs product changeovers. Performs minor adjustments, maintenance and repairs to equipment within certification.

  • Work respectfully with all team members to ensure the Safety, Quality, production and support of our products and goals on a daily basis.
  • Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors.
  • Actively participates in Marzetti Operational Excellence, special projects or tasks, and modification programs as needed with prior approval.
  • Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and is involved with improvement/resolutions & follow-up.
  • Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards.
  • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons.
  • Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards.
  • Completes his/her Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem solving.
  • Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility.
  • Completes his/her Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, OSHA and other support programs.
  • Sets up machine prior to shift start up if needed.
  • Changes packaging materials as needed; ensures packaging materials are correct, in specification and properly positioned in the machine.
  • Records all lot information as required.
  • Ensures finished product is of high quality, i.e. no packets in registration and within weight control.
  • Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product.
  • Ensures date codes are accurate and in correct format.
  • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the packaging area.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as film.
  • Communicates mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
  • Notifies supervisor and maintenance of equipment downtime.
  • Prior machine operating experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and good math skills are required.
  • Positive attitude and problem-solving mentality.
  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
  • Regular on time attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
  • Starting Wage: $25.95/hr
  • Shift: 5:45 AM - 5:45 PM
