About The Position

The Orbital Welder role is responsible for performing precision orbital and manual welding on stainless steel and aluminum vacuum components within a Class‑100 cleanroom environment. This position involves setting up and operating orbital welding equipment, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring products meet customer and quality specifications. Working under moderate supervision, the Orbital Welder supports production schedules by maintaining accurate documentation and identifying process deviations. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety and cleanroom standards, and the ability to handle delicate components. Collaboration with engineering, quality, and production teams is essential to support continuous improvement and on‑time delivery.

Requirements

  • A.A. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Vocational or technical training preferred.
  • 3–4+ years of manufacturing or related experience; semiconductor industry experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of orbital welding or related welding experience.
  • Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to handle fragile products and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency with orbital welding equipment and safe operating practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and documents.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to read measurement instruments, record results, and complete reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize deviations from accepted practices.
  • Basic understanding of mechanics, flow control elements, and MRP concepts.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Mini‑head welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform orbital and hand welding on stainless steel and aluminum vacuum fittings (1/8"–1/2").
  • Set up, operate, and perform mechanical changeovers on orbital weld systems and Swagelok welding machines.
  • Fit, align, and weld product to meet customer requirements, specifications, and workmanship standards.
  • Work from schedules, shop orders, blueprints, procedures, and product specifications.
  • Measure and verify dimensions using approved inspection tooling and hand gauges.
  • Inspect and approve first‑article pieces in accordance with engineering prints.
  • Identify deviations that could interrupt productivity or affect quality.
  • Maintain production logs, routers, and required documentation.
  • Prioritize work and execute production schedules per leads and supervisors.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow all safety and cleanroom requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to support advanced welding process development.
  • Train or assist less experienced technicians as needed.
  • Support departmental quality and on‑time delivery goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
