About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. The role emphasizes safety and quality in a fast-paced production setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment.
  • A minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment, and nail guns.
  • Ability to use measuring gauges and read a tape measure.
  • Forklift experience a plus; must be trainable on forklift.
  • Crane experience a plus; must be trainable on crane.
  • Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate heavy machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools.
  • Mark part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
  • Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
  • Utilize scanning equipment and inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
  • Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules.
  • Work as a team player while keeping safety first.
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
