The position involves operating extrusion equipment, including set-ups, start-ups, change-overs, and shut-downs, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production schedules. The operator is responsible for making process adjustments to ensure that the product meets dimensional tolerances and visual quality criteria. On-line product quality inspections are a key part of the role, where the operator identifies quality issues and troubleshoots the film extrusion process as necessary. Additionally, the operator maintains production tooling, dies, and other extrusion equipment to ensure optimal operational conditions, performing cleaning and light preventive maintenance tasks as required. The role also includes filling out process records and daily production logs/reports, reporting non-conformances, and assisting Production Management and Process Engineering with technical issues. Mentoring and supporting other extrusion operators is expected, along with adherence to plant safety procedures and guidelines. The operator must document the overall production process, including potential defects, and may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
