About The Position

The Machine Operator Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of production machines, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are met. This role involves supervising a team of machine operators, troubleshooting equipment issues, and providing training and guidance to ensure smooth and effective production processes. The Machine Operator Lead plays a key role in tracking machine performance, coordinating with vendors for parts and repairs, and reporting on overall production efficiency. Working closely with the Production Value Stream Manager, this position ensures all safety, quality, and production goals are achieved while maintaining adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old, as required by state law.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for daily data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to lead a team of up to 30 people.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations quickly and effectively.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience working with machines in a production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all processes and personnel operating machines.
  • Provide coaching and corrective actions to employees who fail to meet quotas.
  • Audit and report underperformance to the supervisor.
  • Train all new hires within the assigned production area.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervisor to ensure that all production elements are running smoothly, including meeting goals, performance, quality, equipment, materials, and staff.
  • Track and report on the efficiency (OEE) of all machines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machines that are malfunctioning or down.
  • Contact vendors and order parts for production machines, as needed.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and follow proper uniform requirements.
  • Follow GMPs, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Adhere to break schedules and report any policy violations to the supervisor or manager.
  • Ensure that all direct reports meet the required quality standards.
  • Input data into spreadsheets daily for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
