POSITION SUMMARY The machining lead will be the go-to person for 2nd shift Machining employees and will demonstrate leadership in attaining production goals, objectives, productivity and quality targets. POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Updates and tracks work center and value stream MDI metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Cash and Culture). Coaches team members on standard work, MDI Metrics and overall workflow. Utilizes SAP reports for delivery, cost (efficiency) and parts look up. Supports assembly and materials departments to ensure processes run smoothly and uninterrupted. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Human Resources Functions Supports the daily functions of HR Operations for team member relations, labor relations, hiring/ staffing, employee retention, scheduling, talent management, development, and team engagement. Stay current on all available resources, including company communication, to deliver exceptional team member experience. Responds to team member questions and concerns promptly and courteously, directing them to appropriate resources and leaders for escalation, if needed. Follows company procedures related to HR processes and handling confidential information. Fosters an inclusive, diverse, safe and empowered work culture. Safety Functions Communicates safety hazards and improvement ideas to team. Participates in safety awareness programs and meetings. Completes initial notification of event paperwork for Near Miss, Property Damage, First Aid, and Injury. Updates safety metrics daily. Ensures team completes two safety observations and one WinRight monthly. Quality Functions Understands and trains in accordance with the Quality Policy and ISO 9001 requirements. Follows the quality escalation procedure in case of on-the-line issues which need to be escalated to a cross functional team or supervisor. Applies the QIS (Quality Information System) and specific modules to daily work. Reviews and interprets prints for operators concerning operational issues. Utilizes and coaches team members on the red-tag process and how to identify non-conforming material. Delivery Functions Attends weekly 5-day schedule meetings, apply and communicates outcomes to team. Aligns daily resources to meet the 5-day schedule. Escalates unresolved issues and opportunities affecting production to VSM/supervisor on GEMBA walk. Recommend overtime to meet schedule attainment. Cost Functions Make tactical decisions on where staffing is placed based on business priorities for that day from the scheduler. Follows up throughout the day on quantity of staff needed for the work scheduled and move team members accordingly. Trains and coach machinists and operators on what the Cost metric is and how to improve it at a workstation level. Cash Functions Apply lean principles to minimize scrap. Processes scrap correctly. Escalate if over daily/monthly goal.
