Requirements

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Satisfactory completion of all Level I requirements. 
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OTHER: Forklift Certification.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.   Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work order/BOM or follow oral instructions to operate machinery and produce a part that meets all specifications.
  • Load and unload material into frame of forming machine or trimming fixture.
  • Push button or depress pedal to activate machines.
  • Load and unload plastic parts into die cutter or CNC fixture for trimming.
  • Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, or scrap from finished piece using tools such as air hoses, band saws and trimmers.
  • Perform Set-up/Start up procedures.
  • Inspect quality of finished product and report any quality issues to Setup Person or Shift Supervisor.
  • Count and pack finished products into boxes for shipping or inventory.
  • Work in different work centers as production needs require.
  • Input accurate daily production information in computer shop floor data collection system.
  • Communicate issues to the following shift Machine Operators and clean workstation at the end of the shift.
  • Perform all work procedures in accordance with safety standards.
  • Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.
